Labour law
Labour law includes a whole series of provisions that protect both employers and their workers. Specifically, they relate to:
- working time and rest periods;
- contracts of employment;
- safety and welfare at work;
- social security coverage for employees: unemployment, child benefit, work incapacity, accidents at work, occupational diseases, leave and career breaks, etc.
Work regulations
General working conditions (working hours, payment of wages and also annual holidays) are laid down in the work regulations, a document that sets out the respective rights and obligations of workers and employers. They also provide workers with information about how the company or institution employing them works and how work is organised there.
