Child benefit fund
If you employ staff, you are required to register with a child benefit compensation fund. This fund oversees the payment of child benefit to eligible employees.
NB: you must register with a fund, even if none of your employees has children (and are not therefore entitled to child benefit).
Conditions of membership
Registering with the child benefit fund of your choice is free of charge, but you must do so within 90 days of taking on your first member of staff. After that time, the employer will automatically be registered with the National Child Benefit Service for Employees (ONAFTS/RKW).
NB: in some sectors, such as the hotel, restaurant and catering industry, you do not have a choice of fund.
