Holiday fund

Registering with an annual holiday fund
If you employ blue-collar staff (including apprentices), you must register with an annual holiday fund. Membership of the fund allows blue-collar workers to receive their holiday allowance. The amount of the allowance will depend on the payments received in the year preceding that in which the holidays are taken. It is normally paid when workers take their main holidays (no earlier than the first day of May).

Employers no longer have to do anything in order to join a holiday fund. This happens automatically when they submit their first statement of salaries and working times for their blue-collar employees to the National Social Security Office (NSSO). Employers are then registered:
- either with the holiday fund for their company’s sector, where this exists (e.g. the food industry, photographic industry, building industry, etc.);
- or, failing this, with the National Office for Annual Holidays (ONVA/RJV).
