date: 11 May 2012

The starting pistol on the 2012 Olympic Games in London will sound on 27 July. Over 20 Belgian companies are involved in organising the event – involvement which, according to the Belgian Sports Technology Club  (BSTC), represents contracts worth a total of €280 million in a range of fields including access control, lighting, reception facilities, reinforced football pitches, aerial imaging, LED screens, ticketing systems and more.

According to Agoria, five other Belgian companies are still in the running to secure the latest outsourced contracts for the organising committee (LOCOG), while others are likely to be subcontractors for Belgium HouseExternal link, the Belgian Olympic family's London base.

The BSTC is an initiative by Agoria, the Belgian technology industry federation, and the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC).
