Starting a business in Belgium? Start here!
Do you dream of starting your own business in Belgium? You have two options: setting up a sole proprietorship or establishing a corporation. For most starters, a sole proprietorship is the simplest form. For example, no start-up capital is required, and the accounting and administrative obligations are relatively straightforward. Below, we explain the conditions you must meet and what you need in order to set up a business and a registered office — your business's legally recognised address — in Belgium.

- An identification method (eID with card reader, the itsme® app, or a European-recognised electronic identification method).
- The bank account number of a professional current account (contact your financial institution for this).
- Contact details
- An overview of the business activities and/or NACEBEL codes you wish to carry out.
- Proof of professional qualifications (for certain activities).
- Are you established in Wallonia? If so, you must also be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of business management. This is not required in Flanders or Brussels.
- An online payment method.
In addition, you must affiliate with a business counter. The business counter will guide you through the entire process and also help you obtain the necessary permits.
